We, Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club, would like to acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar People, the Traditional Custodians of the land which we gather. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future. We extend that respect to recognise their spiritual and cultural connection to the land of Alkimos.

Having two teenagers suddenly want to hang out at the beach on their own with friends made us very nervous and realise the importance of teaching them beach safety. So we decided to go ahead and enrol them into surf life saving, actually our daughter joined first and when her brother seen how much she enjoyed it he decided to go too. What they got from the club was so much more than we imagined. We have honestly never seen them so enthusiastic over anything, they have both learned so much not just on the beach but things like first aid which are so important. They both love to patrol, love the Independence and can’t wait to progress. We love that our teenagers are out there keeping fit, having fun and learning such valuable life skills! We love being part of such a friendly club that do their upmost to bring families together. Our little 7 year old wants a slice of the action now and is just counting down the months until she can join little nippers in October. 💙💛 Why Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club Means So Much to Our Family 🌊 Joining Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club has been one of the best decisions we’ve made as a family. For me, it’s about so much more than teaching our children how to be safe in the ocean. It’s about watching them grow in confidence, make new friends, challenge themselves and develop skills that will stay with them for life. What I love most about Alkimos is the genuine sense of community. From the moment you become involved, you realize it’s not just a club – it’s a family. Everyone gives their time because they genuinely care about the kids, the beach and the community we live in. Having moved to Australia from the UK, finding that sense of belonging has been incredibly important to us. Alkimos has given us the opportunity to meet some wonderful people, make friendships and really feel part of our local community. I’ve loved becoming more involved in the club myself and being able to give something back. Seeing the passion and dedication of the volunteers behind the scenes has made me appreciate even more just how special this club is. There’s something really lovely about spending our weekends at the beach, watching the kids have fun, learn new things and create memories. Being part of Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club has been such a rewarding experience for our family. The sense of community is truly special, and we’ve loved being involved as members. A big thank you to the management team for their dedication and passion—especially when it comes to supporting the kids. The opportunities they provide for development, confidence-building, and growth are incredible. It’s also wonderful to see how much encouragement and support is given to adults to get involved, volunteer, and play a role in growing the club. Alkimos Surf Life Saving Club is a fantastic club and a such supportive surf family! With my middle child involved in the Woodside Nippers program and my teenage son involved in the youth program; it has taught them both beach safety as well as how to be part of and the importance of contributing towards our community all while having fun.
