Become a Volunteer with Alkimos Surf Lifesaver |
Everyone in the community can help save a life. On the sand and in the surf, people just like you step up to the challenge to become lifesavers; to own the coast and love the coast.
Becoming a surf lifesaver is the epitome of a fit and healthy lifestyle. It’s joining a community, making new mates, and giving something back to your local community. It’s being your best self. It’s learning and teaching in a supportive environment. Whether it’s patrolling, surf sport comps or coaching the next generation, our members agree it’s nothing short of rewarding.
See yourself wearing the red and yellow? To become a surf lifesaver, you’ll need to join Alkimos SLSC and discuss training opportunities to get you onto patrol. Whichever pathway you take, as a surf lifesaver you’ll learn valuable skills patrolling as a trained volunteer. This means patrolling WA beaches on weekends and public holidays during the surf lifesaving season. You’ll undertake a few roles, including aquatic rescues, providing first aid and emergency care, and providing surf safety information to the public.
If you have obtained your Bronze Medallion, you also become eligible to compete in surf sports events once you fulfil your patrol requirements.
Want to get involved without patrolling? No problems, there are heaps of ways to get involved in your local surf club without even getting in the water.
Belong to something bigger. Membership of Alkimos SLSC is about more than just being a lifesaver. It’s about helping to protect the community while becoming part of one. Local club membership is for everyone. From our Woodside Nippers to our Youth Programs, to becoming a volunteer surf lifesaver, or just helping at the club, there is a role for everyone!
Admin, fundraising, first aid, radio operators, barbeque grill-master, the possibilities are endless… Alkimos SLSC will be hosting Open Days so please see website for details where you can learn more about becoming a member, as well as registering your kids for Woodside Nippers program. Check out when our registration day is here (dates will be added as they come available).
A Parent Membership is an excellent way to get involved with the club, meet new people, and enjoy a fun and healthy atmosphere with your family. It’s a chance to develop your skills, build your network, and spend more time on Western Australia’s beautiful coastline.
Surf Life Saving WA offers the opportunity to get involved with the junior program and other aspects of their club at any level that interests you. Clubs are always in need of an extra pair of hands when cooking sausage sizzles, organizing a social event or assistance with the uniform shop.
